This is a new certification that aims to demonstrate that foods do not contain any animal products. The standard originated in Sweden but is offered on a global market. Products that have been certified may be marked with the Plant Based Standards symbol directly on the packaging, which means that a thorough check has been made of the product.
The Plant Based Standard serves a purpose in a time when many products are somewhat arbitrarily labeled with different terms without any control behind or explanation of what is meant by, for example, “Vegan”.
